
Dr. Johnson is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who returned to Alaska to practice in 2005. She lived in Alaska 1989-1995 after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. She began medical school in 1994 through the Alaska WAMI program, spending the first year of medical training in Anchorage, then moving to Seattle to complete her training. She completed her Psychiatry Residency Training also through the University of Washington. After practicing two years in Spokane, she was eager to return to Alaska, her adopted “home.”
For 13 years, Dr. Johnson practiced as an attending psychiatrist treating the acutely ill at Providence Alaska Medical Center’s inpatient Mental Health Unit. She also provided psychiatric consultations for the medically hospitalized/ill for 11 years and was Chair of the Psychiatry Department for 6 years. She has been in outpatient practice along with her colleagues at Willow Medical and Wellness and at True North TMS since 2018. She provides diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy. She specializes in mood conditions, anxiety conditions, adjustment disorders, life transitions, ADHD, and other conditions.
Dr. Johnson has received specialized TMS training and certification at the Harvard Medical School research center, the Berenson-Allen Center for Non-invasive Brain Stimulation.
